Reuniting Lob City in LA:

  • Lakers receive: Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan

  • Clippers receive: Brook Lopez

  • Pistons receive: Luol Deng, Corey Brewer, Julius Randle

  • Rockets receive: Jordan Clarkson

The slow collapse of the Los Angeles Clippers’ coveted Lob City trio was a sad sight to see. Just a few seasons ago, the Clippers were one of the favorites to win the NBA Championship, giving future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul his first ring. However, injures and the Golden State Warriors ultimately crushed the Clippers’ dreams.

It all started with DeAndre Jordan, who reportedly verbally agreed to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. One in-house kidnapping later and Jordan agreed to return to Los Angeles alongside his superstar buddies Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Ironically, Jordan is the last one remaining.

Next was Chris Paul, whose departure was predicted far before it took place. With a player option following the 2016-2017 and no championship ring, Paul’s time in LA was up. Thus, the Clippers wanted to get something out of their star and agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Houston Rockets. Now, Paul is in title contention alongside James Harden; a partnership many thought would fail.

Most recently was the departure of Blake Griffin which, by far, was the most surprising. The Clippers locked Griffin down to a five-year extension prior to the 2017-2018 season. Just half a year later, the organization decided it was time to go full rebuild and send Griffin to the Detroit Pistons.

In this deal, the trio would reunite back in LA in the other Staples Center locker room. Would they win together? Well, probably not.

The eventual reunion is still a fun thought, though.
