The 2003 NBA Draft class:

  • Lakers receive: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony

  • Cavaliers receive: Luol Deng, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

  • Thunder receive: Julius Randle, Brook Lopez

Well this one is a bit easier considering that two of the three pieces are already on the same team. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony headlined the 2003 NBA Draft Class, which will go down as one of the deepest draft classes of all-time. All three are Hall of Famers, yet, only two-fourths of the Banana Boat have partnered together. This trade would make it three.

Carmelo Anthony is the only notable star from that draft class without a NBA Championship ring. Dwayne Wade was the first, winning the 2006 NBA Championship alongside Shaquille O’Neal. Then, four years later, LeBron took his talents to South Beach with 2003 classmate Chris Bosh; winning the 2012 NBA Championship two years later.

Putting Carmelo with his superstar buddies should be enough to get him his first ring and secure his spot in the Hall of Fame. Anthony would not have the same problems he has on the Thunder, instead, both LeBron and Lonzo Ball would play a facilitating style of basketball to complement Anthony’s shot-taking habits.

Keep Anthony at the four and move Brandon Ingram to the two and the Lakers would have a beautiful blend of new school and old school.

Is this trade unlikely? Oh yeah, this will never has linkshappen. However, the idea of these three coming to LA is not out of the cards. All three (and the fourth Banana Boat member, Chris Paul) can be free agents this season. LeBron already to Los Angeles. Conspiracy theory, or a future reality?
