Lakers trade rumors: Four ridiculous NBA Trade Machine trades
By Jason Reed
The Gasol brothers:
-
Lakers receive: Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol
-
Grizzlies receive: Brook Lopez
-
Spurs receive: Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson
Okay, that was definitely a corny headline. To be fair, though, both the Gasol brothers have done far more for the Los Angeles Lakers organization than Lonzo Ball has done, yet. LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball, well, once you are out of Lithuania we can talk.
Pau Gasol, of course, was an huge part of the Lakers 2009 and 2010 NBA Championship winning teams. Kobe Bryant needed a running mate, as much as Laker fans loved Lamar Odom and Derek Fisher, they were not enough to win a championship alongside the likes of Luke Walton and Sasha Vujacic. Enter Pau Gasol.
The person the Lakers traded to acquire Gasol? The draft rights to his brother, Marc Gasol. Although Marc never touched the court as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, without that trade Kobe could have never won his fourth and fifth championship and challenge the legacy of Michael Jordan.
While the Lakers would not be contenders with the Gasol brothers, it would be interesting to see the two team up in the purple in gold. At the very least, this trade is far more realistic than any of the other crazy NBA Trade Machine deals on this list.
