In the first round of our second 2018 NFL Mock Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers again bolstered their offensive line by selecting offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey out of Notre Dame.

Last offseason, the Chargers made it a priority to improve their offensive line which had struggled for a long time. Philip Rivers has been under constant pressure for most of his career, finally, the Chargers went all-in on the O-line and made some smart choices.

First, the Chargers signed left tackle Russell Okung out of free agency. Okung brought veteran insight to a young line that played a huge role in Rivers’ great season. In the draft, LA brought in Forrest Lamp in the second round and Dan Feeney in the third.

Lamp ultimately did not play due to injury but Feeney was good for the Chargers at guard. Although he did allow the Broncos to block a game-tying field goal in week one, Feeney came into his own as the season transpired.

With this solid foundation, and Lamp returning from injury, the Chargers can finally have a great offensive line that is also tremendously deep. The final icing on the cake would be six-foot-seven Mike McGlinchey, who Walter Football ranks as the best offensive tackle in the class. It may be unlikely that he slips to 17th, but if he does, the Chargers cannot miss out.
