USC Football: Former Trojan Nelson Agholor’s Super Bowl impact
By Jason Reed
The USC Football Trojans are one of the most prestigious college football programs in the country. Former Trojan Nelson Agholor has had a big impact on the Eagles Super Bowl run.
Arguably the more successful Los Angeles university (sorry, UCLA) the USC Football Trojans have produced countless stars in the NFL. Marcus Allen, Troy Polamalu, Ronnie Lott and Junior Seau were all Trojans. In the NFL today, Clay Matthews is the most notable alumni. Eagles receiver Nelson Agholor, though, could take over those honors very soon.
Agholor has already played a huge impact on the Philadelphia Eagles in just his third season in the league. Drafted 20th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, it took Agholor until this third season to become a huge contributor.
After combining for just 648 yards and three touchdowns his first two years, Agholor responded with a great season in 2017. With the emergence of Carson Wentz and a notably better receiving core helping him, Agholor made 62 receptions on the season for 768 yards and eight touchdowns.

While it is not the most mind-boggling stat line, Agholor constantly came up big when the Eagles needed him most. Just having him in the receiving core, even when he is not directly improving, can help the likes of Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz. This is huge for a quarterback like Nick Foles.
Hopefully just having him on the field can have that same impact in the Super Bowl, though. The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly dealing with a flu-like bug in the locker room. According to Nick Shook of NFL.com, Agholor had to receive IV fluids to deal with the sickness.
Regardless of this new story, Agholor looks to be a key part of the Eagles passing game. The Patriots are going to come out swinging, the Eagles are going to have to put on an offensive performance similar to the NFC Championship game. Nelson Agholor has the talent to push through the sickness and becomes a hero of the Super Bowl.

And that would likely be no surprise to USC Football fans. Trojan fans all remember his junior year in which he caught 104 passes for 1313 yards in 13 games. While he may not be among the best USC Football Trojans to ever do it in the NFL, he will be making his way up the ranks. A Super Bowl win definitely helps that cause.
