After winning the NFC West and hosting a game in the Wild Card round, here’s a look at what’s next for the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s safe to say now that making a change at the head coaching slot in Los Angeles was the right decision, and ultimately one that could lead to a Super Bowl appearance and victory, led by the youngest coach in all of the NFL.

Sean McVay got the job after working with Washington, but not as a head coach. The Rams made the move after finally parting ways with mediocrity king Jeff Fisher, and ever since then it’s made the franchise look like it knows what it’s doing.

After drafting Jared Goff, everybody obviously had questions as to how he’d function with Fisher’s dysfunction, especially after the team had just moved from St. Louis back to Los Angeles. Trading up for the number one spot in the draft has shown both the good and the bad, but now Sean McVay can really set the tone starting next season.

Not only has McVay managed to coach Jared Goff in a way that showcases his strengths and abilities, but he’s been able to somehow make the biggest turnaround in NFL history in terms of scoring offense so much fun to watch.

Los Angeles went from one of the worst in the league to the top-scoring offense in the NFL, and that doesn’t happen overnight without an absolute overhaul.

McVay’s changes were not only noticeable in the confidence and effectiveness of Jared Goff from his rookie to sophomore year, but also in the resurgence of running back Todd Gurley. After having a down second year in the league following his stellar rookie campaign, Gurley found a balance and role that he could work with and excel in under McVay.

The former Georgia Bulldogs star was even in the MVP conversation, rushing for north of 1,300 yards on 279 attempts to go with 13 touchdowns.

You could argue that the Los Angeles Rams blew a shot at a deep playoff push this season by losing at home to the Atlanta Falcons, but in all honesty, that should’ve been expected.

A great regular season is one thing, but the young Rams had nowhere near the playoff experience that a team like at Atlanta — fresh off a dominating run to the Super Bowl the season prior — had coming into the matchup.

Now this team has some of that experience under their belt, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Heading into next season, Sean McVay will again face high expectations, but deservedly so. If the Los Angeles Rams can find their way back to the post-season, it will be a whole different story next time around.

It will also be a lot of fun to look forward to because of the fact that Philadelphia will be getting Carson Wentz back and fully healthy. Wentz and Goff were the top two quarterbacks taken in their draft class, and getting to see them fight for a trip to the Super Bowl against each other would be an upgrade from the Nick Foles vs. Case Keenum NFC title game we had to deal with this season.
