Los Angeles Dodgers: Five prospects that could be this year’s Cody Bellinger
Do the Los Angeles Dodgers have another Cody Bellinger in their midst?
The Los Angeles Dodgers are notorious for introducing some of the best players the game has ever seen to Major League Baseball. Players like Clayton Kershaw, Orel Hersheiser, Jackie Robinson, Corey Seager, and the reigning NL Rookie of the year, Cody Bellinger.
Dodger rookies have a habit of making history, the question has never been if, but when, and who will be next.
If we go back in time to exactly one year ago, and someone mentions the name Cody Bellinger, most reactions would go something like this; “He’s the Dodgers‘ top prospect, right?”
Or maybe, “I’ve heard he has a habit of hitting homers.”
For the most part, Bellinger was known only to those who live and breathe baseball. Mention his name now? The reactions will be wildly different.

“Oh yeah, he’s the best! He hit the most home runs in NL Rookie history!” Or “Cody Bellinger is better than most, and he’s only 22.” But then there’s the reaction your most likely to get; “Wow. Just, wow.”
Everybody knows Bellinger’s name now — and everybody knows he’s a Dodger.
By bringing him up when they did, the Dodgers gave Bellinger the opportunity to get his feet wet and get a sense of what the major leagues are like. They didn’t expect him to stay, but he didn’t give them a choice. I remember one day, around mid-May, and as I was watching the game I remember thinking, “They can’t send Bellinger back down now. They just can’t.”
They didn’t. And by not doing so, Bellinger paved the way and continued the legacy of historic Dodger rookies.
Here are five Dodger prospects who have the potential to be this year’s Cody Bellinger.
