SG – Paul George

This is being a bit optimistic, sure, but with the Lakers now having $61 million in practical cap space – according to Spotrac – acquiring Paul George now becomes a lot more realistic. The Los Angeles Lakers have the cap space to sign a second superstar with George (something we outlined here), giving him the superstar buddy that he wants to bring to LA.

Although George is a natural small forward, he did play shooting guard early in his career and would be best suited in that role for the Lakers. Defensively, George can line up against the opposing team’s best player; whether that be a point guard, shooting guard, small forward or power forward.

Putting George at the two spot makes the most sense due to his ability to spot up and score as well as giving the Lakers more versatility throughout the rotation.

Paul George needs to opt out of his contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder if the Lakers are going to have any chance of signing him. However, with that new pocketbook, you will see what other superstar should join George in the pursuit to LA.
