No free agent makes more sense to pursue than DeMarcus Cousins. Quite frankly, whether the Lakers want to go out and get Paul George or some other superstar, they are going to need to bring in DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is arguably the best center in the league and spent the first six and a half seasons of his career on the West Coast.

Dominic Torres of Lake Show Life gives three compelling reasons to pursue DeMarcus Cousins and they all make sense. Cousins is literally a perfect fit for the Los Angeles Lakers; the Lakers a perfect fit for Cousins. Even with Anthony Davis, Cousins may be better off in LA, especially with Paul George.

The best part for the Lakers? They can get him at a discounted price. Unfortunately, Cousins will miss the rest of the season retro to a January 26 Achilles injury. Due to the injury, teams may be hesitant in giving Cousins the max deal he was previously worth, especially with the ever-changing financial landscape of the NBA.

Thus, the Lakers can afford to go after Cousins with a back-loaded contract that allows him and George to fit under the salary cap until Luol Deng’s contract can be freed up.

Lonzo Ball, Paul George, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and DeMarcus Cousins. That starting five has NBA Championship potential.
