NBA All-Star Weekend 2018: Lou Williams deserved a spot
By Keith Rivas
Lou Williams of the LA Clippers was wrongfully left off the invite list for NBA All-Star Weekend 2018.
There’s been a few bright spots so far this season for the LA Clippers, but having Lou Williams snubbed from NBA All-Star Weekend 2018 is just bananas — and the numbers back up why it’s such a bogus situation.
Nobody would think twice about leaving Kyrie Irving out of the All-Star festivities, right? A new environment in Boston, completely different chemistry, and his year with LeBron James running the show with him.
He posts nearly the same numbers as Lou Williams, but the latter misses the All-Star game that is being held at Staples Center.

It just goes to show the truth about how the NBA feels about Lou Williams — and it’s nothing more than a “good for you” kind of feeling. He plays well anywhere he goes, has had to now play for both Los Angeles NBA teams, and hasn’t let any of the moving around or being traded affect his production level whatsoever.
That deserves recognition in the form of an All-Star invitation at the very least, but he’ll be on the outside looking in when the top players in the NBA gather in Los Angeles to showcase their talents and why they are there.
Williams is averaging 23 points per game meshed with five assists and about two rebounds. Kyrie Irving puts up nearly identical numbers, especially when you get away from points where there is about a one point differential.
So what gives?
Perhaps it’s the fact that the Clippers have managed to become that second team in Los Angeles instead of being respected as part of the league like they’re supposed to. Any way you cut it, the fact that we won’t see Lou Williams at the All-Star weekend should really raise some eyebrows.

There’s nothing that can be done to change it, but it’s worth noting that the Clippers aren’t a complete loss because of him this season.
