Los Angeles Rams Mock Draft: Post Marcus Peters trade edition
By Jason Reed
With the 196 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select:
First things first, the Los Angeles Rams will either have the 196th or the 209th overall pick from the Chiefs (I am not entirely sure why, to be honest, I tried looking). For simplicity sake, we are going to assume that they receive the 196th overall pick, giving them three consecutive picks.
In the sixth round then the Los Angeles Rams should look to add to their defensive line with former Oklahoma Sooner Du’Vonta Lumpkin.
Lumpkin has the size to succeed in the NFL and be a true play stuffer. At six-foot-four and 335 pounds, Lampkin is explosive and powerful. However, his biggest drawback heading into the draft is that he simply may not be ready for the NFL. His game is a little too green at times and that could translate to some struggles in the NFL.
However, if he is going to learn from any group of guys he should want to learn under the Rams defensive line. Playing a role in key short yardage downs, Lampkin’s potential is the highest on the Los Angeles Rams.
With the 198th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select:
Running back is not necessarily an area of need for the Los Angeles Rams heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. Todd Gurley has arguably become the best running back in the NFL and is going to take the majority of snaps for the Rams.

However, LA does need some pieces behind him now after this season. Backup running back Lance Dunbar is a free agent and will likely head to a team with a role for him. The Rams do have other backs on the roster, but what they lack is a true power back that can also run block.
The fullback is dying in today’s NFL which is really a sad sight to see. However, the Rams can go back to the fullback roots and select Ryan Nall. Nall can be a run-blocker for Gurley in heavy packages out of the backfield as well as a power back in short yardage situations.
While Nall is not the most talented back in the draft, not even close, his skillset is the one aspect missing in the Rams high-powered offense. Adding him only gives the Rams more versatility on offense.
Next: Possible replacements for Sammy Watkins
Overall, the Marcus Peters trade did not have too big of an impact on the later rounds of our Los Angeles Rams mock draft. However, it still will change the overall complexion of the draft moving forward.
