Corey Brewer potential landing spot: New Orleans Pelicans

As previously mentioned, Anthony Davis has been incredible since the New Orleans Pelicans lost DeMarcus Cousins. In the month of February Davis is averaging 35.9 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. Davis has scored 35 or more points seven times, 40 or more points five times and dropped 53 against the Suns on Monday.

The Brow has been out of this world and has been the main x-factor leading to the Pelicans seven-game win streak. However, the team has also been adding as much help as they could around Davis since Cousins’ injury.

New Orleans brought in Nikola Mirotic from Chicago, who was playing fairly well for the Bulls and going against the tanking mentality. Mirotic is averaging 14.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game since becoming a Pelican.

The Pelicans also recently brought in 2004 second overall pick Emeka Okafor for depth in the frontcourt. Okafor was in the NBA G League this year and is averaging 5.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a Pelican.

Despite all of these improvements, the Pelicans can get better. New Orleans allows the second-most points per game in the NBA. With a fairly thin group of guys at small forward, the Pelicans can add another defending piece that can go around Anthony Davis.

Brewer will not get in the way of Davis’ incredible hot streak and will provide the Pelicans some better defense. It may not be a move that puts them over the hump, but it will continue to add the depth that the team is looking for.
