LA Rams: Five more trade targets to consider moving forward
By Jason Reed
LA Rams trade target: TE Brent Celek
*Editor’s note: Trey Burton signed a four-year, $32 million contract with the Chicago Bears Tuesday morning.
This one is a bit of a curveball as well, but the Rams could use all the tight end help they can get. Tyler Higbee is hitting the market this off-season, leaving the starting tight end role primarily for Gerald Everett’s taking.
Second-round pick Gerald Everett failed to leave much of an impression in his rookie year. While he did look good at times and will develop to at least be a good red zone threat, he may not be the starting tight end the Rams may have been looking for.

Even if Los Angeles does re-sign Higbee they should look to add depth at the position. While they do not need a game changer, the current tight end core they have is woeful. Enter Super Bowl Champion Brent Celek.
The Philadelphia Eagles are stacked with tight end talent. Starter Zach Ertz is one of the best in football and backup Trey Burton is a young, very good, backup. Also in the mix is the veteran Brent Celek, who saw himself become the third-option in Philadelphia.
The Eagles are another team that are not afraid to pull the trigger if a trade helps the team.
We saw that last off-season and we are already seeing it this off-season. Burton has proven that he has what it takes to be a great backup tight end. Philadelphia does not really need Celek.
This opens the door for a trade between the two sides. The Rams would be getting a veteran tight end with something still left to offer. At the very least, Celek would be helping the young tight ends get better.

In return, well, that all comes down to what the Eagles value as most important. Maybe it is some draft picks, maybe it is a backup running back or a special teams piece. Regardless, the asking price for Celek should not be too high.
