LA Rams: NFC West Power Ranking after latest frenzy of moves
By Jason Reed
4. Arizona Cardinals
-
Key Additions: Sam Bradford, Mike Glennon
-
Key losses: Tyrann Mathieu, Adrian Peterson, John Brown
The Arizona Cardinals are not looking too great heading into next season. Arizona was already arguably the least talented team in the NFC West heading into the off-season. Genius head coach Bruce Arians was able to coach the Cardinals up to an 8-8 record to finish third in the NFC West. However, with a red-hot Jimmy Garoppolo in San Francisco, Arizona took the back seat.
The off-season has done nothing to help the Cardinals look like a serious threat next season. Arians decided to hang it up and call it a career. Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks took over the head coaching job with just 11 NCAA games under his belt as a head coach.
The Cardinals did do a good job in addressing the quarterback need by bringing in both Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon. However, there are still huge question marks around Bradford. Bradford has proven to be a reliable quarterback when on the field. But he did miss 14 games last season with his health still in question.
Losing speedy receiver John Brown will have a bigger impact than I think many expect it to be and losing Adrian Peterson will be fine with David Johnson returning to the fold. However, the biggest loss is Tyrann Mathieu, who the Cardinals cut after he refused to take a pay cut.
