4. Denver Broncos

  • Key Additions: Case Keenum, Donald Stephenson, Corey Nelson

  • Key Losses: Aqib Talib, Trevor Siemian, Virgil Green

I think the Denver Broncos’ additions this off-season are a bit overstated in the actual results they will bring about. The Broncos were looking for a quarterback this off-season and got that in Case Keenum. In turn, the Broncos cut ties with Trevor Siemian, trading him to Keenum’s old team, the Vikings, for a seventh-round draft pick.

A respectable quarterback has been painted as the one addition the Broncos could make to return to playoff form. The defense is still good and Keenum will have decent weapons around him; how won’t they succeed?

The problem lies that Case Keenum may be one of the most overvalued quarterbacks in the league. Yes, I give him all credit for what he did with the Minnesota Vikings. But the entire narrative, literally the entire season, was “when will Case Keenum return to Case Keenum form?” How are we all going to pretend that he is now some great quarterback?

Losing Aqib Talib will have a bigger impact than some may think, but the secondary should be okay with Chris Harris Jr. While I do think the Broncos will be better than they were last season, it is hard to buy into them even being a .500 team.

The improvements will be minimal.
