Lakers News: Studies show Laker fans among the most loyal in the NBA
By Jason Reed
We all know how passionate fans of the Los Angeles Lakers can be. The latest Lakers news, according to a recent study, has those fans among the most loyal in the NBA.
Laker fans are some of the quickest in the NBA to hop onto recent Lakers news and let their opinions be known. When a franchise as prestigious as the Lakers win as much as they do, they understandably grow a big and passionate fan base.
As big and passionate as that fan base is, though, it is still not considered the most loyal in the NBA.
According to a study conducted by Fanatics, the Los Angeles Lakers have the second-most loyal fans in the NBA. The most loyal fans in basketball? The Golden State Warriors.
There were multiple different criteria that the study took into consideration. Attendance, social media following and jersey sales gave the study the basis for the ranking.
In terms of attendance, the Lakers were among the best in the NBA despite their losing record. Nine teams ranked ahead of the Lakers in average attendance last season and were one of five teams to have above average attendance and have a below average winning percentage.

Social media following is where the Lakers really thrived. Combined across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram the Lakers had over $33 million social media followers. The next best was the Chicago Bulls at $25 million; Golden State was third at $23 million.
Finally, the Lakers were fourth in total jersey sales. The Warriors were far above the rest and outsold 58 percent of all NBA teams in jersey sales. According to the report. for every NBA jersey sold, the Warriors accounted for one in five.
Los Angeles sold the fourth-most jerseys.
The study ranked each category on a scale from zero to one based on where the respective teams ranked. When it was all said and done, the Lakers finished right behind the Golden State Warriors; who just reached their stardom.
In overall terms of loyalty, this study likely does not capture the entire picture. Sure, the Warriors may be the best in terms of these categories, but that has been a result of their recent success. If the Lakers were in the same position as the Warriors, they very well would have blown the rest of the NBA out of the water.

In terms of now, though, it is hard to argue the Warriors being the most loyal fan base. So many people have hopped on the bandwagon with their recent success. Even if you disagree with this Lakers news, be happy about how high the team ranked.
