The Los Angeles Kings vs Anaheim Ducks is one of the best rivalries in hockey west of the Mississippi River. For fans of both teams, it’s as important as Ohio State vs. Michigan, Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees or even Bolboa vs Creed II.

There is plenty of animosity on both sides of the discussion. Why shouldn’t there be animosity? The teams’ respective arenas are less than an hour apart (on a good day) from each other. Close enough to draw the ire on both sides.

We are no different at LA Sports Hub. We have our Kings supporters and we have our Ducks supporters among our group. For fun, we put out some intradepartmental questions, about the rivalry, for our staff to answer. Participating are contributors Redan Lopez, Jamaal Artis, Ed Stein, and our boss Jason Reed.

Better Jerseys Ducks or Kings?

Redan – Ducks Jerseys are better. I would go with Orange and black over Silver and black any day.

Jamaal – 1967 Kings Purple and Gold.

Ed – The current Ducks home jerseys are the best period.

Jason – Ducks jerseys are sexy.

Miller & Fox or Ahlers & Hayward?

More from LA Sports Hub

Redan – Both are great broadcasting tandems. I don’t prefer one of another as both deliver strong performances night and night out. I’ll definitely say that Miller has more pace to his play by play than Ahlers. However, I love Hayward’s analysis about goaltending and what he sees on the ice.

Jamaal – Miller and Fox!!!

Ed – How many in the history of this sport are better than Bob Miller? Unfortunately, I’m not a Fox guy. I’ll take Ahlers and Hayward.

Jason – I like the Kings announcers (Miller & Fox) more.

Best So. Cal hockey player ever?

Redan – Teemu Selanne; You can’t beat the “Finnish Flash” and the impact he made on and off the ice – One of a kind player to the Ducks and definitely “the” fan favorite.

JamaalTeemu Selanne

Ed – I wanted to say Selanne, but Gretzky is the best ever and this rivalry wouldn’t happen if he didn’t come to Los Angeles.

Jason – Obviously, Wayne Gretzky.

Who wins tonight?

Redan – The Ducks win Friday night, but it will be a close. A tight one-goal game as always. These teams love to play each other tooth and nail. Will be a memorable one.

Jamaal – Kings!!!!

Ed – Anaheim Ducks, Gibson outduels Quick.

Jason – Kings, and Kopitar scores twice.

Next: Kings sign Daniel Brickley, What to Expect

Who takes the third playoff spot in the Pacific?

Redan – The Ducks take third in the Pacific – by 1 pt. They know that Nashville or Vegas will be tough places to win in. I think they have a better case against the Sharks who I think aren’t as good as advertised.

Jamaal – Kings (but will lose to Sharks in the first round)

Ed – The Ducks

JasonJason decided that discretion was the better part of valor and passed on this. Good Idea.
