LA Rams draft-day trade #3:

Do I think this move would be the smartest for the LA Rams? Not entirely. It all depends on how Wade Phillips wants to run the defense with both Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald. Do I think that this deal is possible? Absolutely. In fact, the Rams best way to creep into the first-round while minimizing losses is by trading away Michael Brockers.

More from LA Sports Hub

The Los Angeles Rams do not need a first-round pick, which makes this deal as questionable as it is. However, there could be a draft prospect that the team has circled ten times over. If that is the case, making this trade to the Green Bay Packers would be the Rams’ best route.

In signing Suh, the LA Rams created a scary defensive line. However, by signing Suh the Rams also essentially made Brockers tradable. While he can stick around and serve as the third head of a scary three-headed monster, the Rams would be just fine in trading him because Suh would be taking his place on the defense anyway.

Suh is undoubtedly better than Brockers, so the Rams would still be better defensively than they were last year after this trade.

The Green Bay Packers, on the other hand, could use that extra help in the defensive line. Green Bay has done a great job in forming a respectable defensive line and just need the last piece at tackle to create one of the scariest in the league.

With Aaron Rodgers ready to win a Super Bowl now, the Packers may be more interested in taking an established talent rather than hoping a draft pick works out.

For the Rams, they could use this selection on an elite inside linebacker such as Rashaan Evans or even Tremaine Edmunds, if he falls that low. The Rams need help at linebacker more than they need help at defensive tackle; this would be a way to flip-flop the talent to fit the Rams’ needs.

Again, it may not be the smartest move to make (simply because the idea of Suh, Donald and Brockers is amazing) but if the draft pick pans out, it has a higher ceiling than simply keeping Brockers.
