The Los Angeles Dodgers continued the hot streak, taking home a 2-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Monday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing some pretty good baseball of late. Los Angeles has won seven of the last eight games and is over .500 for the first time this season. On Tuesday, the Dodgers turn to Kenta Maeda to clinch the series over the Miami Marlins.

Although the Dodgers won on Monday night, the 2-1 scoreline did not help much in our Dodgers Beat the Streak series. The Dodgers collected just six hits in total, three of which coming from Enrique Hernandez (spoiler alert: neither of us picked Enrique Hernandez).

Another day of Dodger baseball means another day of Beat the Streak. Without further ado, let’s get into the picks; starting with a recap of Monday night.

Monday’s picks:

On Monday I went with my favorite player on the Dodgers right now in Matt Kemp. Luckily, Kemp drove a pitch into the 5-6 hole for a base hit single, giving him a 1-3 line on the night.

As for Sarah, she went for the red-hot Yasmani Grandal, who was riding an 11-game hitting streak into the contest. However, in typical bad luck baseball fashion, Grandal went without a hit for the first time since April 4.

Sarah’s pick (Current streak: Zero): Yasiel Puig

More from LA Sports Hub

My pick for today is Yasiel Puig. He’s an absolute legend in LA and is bound to get hot. I’d be surprised if the Dodgers offense doesn’t absolutely dominate in this series against Miami. Jarlin Garcia has been great this season for the fish but today the Dodgers face the 25-year-old rookie, Dillon Peters. Peters has begun the season with a 2-2 record and a 6.98 ERA.

The Dodgers offense has gotten hot as of late, but it’s capable of far more. We saw what they were able to do last season.

Here’s the thing about Yasiel Puig, though. When he’s on a hot streak, he’s really, really good.

He’s the kind of player that can hit 3-4 homers in a single homestand, he just hasn’t really gotten there yet. I think that Puig is on the verge of getting back in the game, and when he does, the offensive leaderboards in the NL could start to shift.

Jason’s pick: (Current streak: One): Yasmani Grandal

Yup. Yasmani Grandal just let Sarah down with his first no-hit performance in almost 20 days. That won’t stop me from picking the red-hot slugging catcher to get a base knock in Tuesday night’s contest.

Grandal will again be on the right side of the plate as the Dodgers are again facing a lefty, which does raise some concerns. Grandal is historically better against right-handed opposition, however, has hit well against southpaws thus far this season.

Coming off of a 0-4 performance, Grandal is due for at least one base knock in as many at-bats. He is simply swinging the bat too good right now to not find a gap at least one in eight tries. While it is not a guarantee, I think it is as much of a lock as you can get.

Yasmani Grandal. Right it down, ladies and gentlemen.
