Shaquem Griffin, LB, UCF

If I had to compile a mock draft for every single NFL team, I would probably include Shaquem Griffin in every single one. Griffin is a sensation of a talent that should be going in the first two rounds. However, because he is missing his left hand, Griffin enters the draft as the biggest question mark.

Griffin is going to land on whatever team is willing to task the risk of selecting him. Because of that, the chances of a team using a pick in the top three rounds seems slim; NFL teams don’t like to take risks early in the draft. When they do, they tend to be on positions such as quarterback.

With a linebacker already selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, and a pretty good one at that, the LA Rams would be able to take a risk on Griffin in the fourth-round. This risk would instantly boost the Rams’ linebacking core from one of the thinnest in the NFL to one of the most explosive and athletic.

While the youth in the linebacker unit would cause a learning curve, there is no better defensive genius in football to cure that learning cure than that of Wade Phillips. Phillips would best utilize the explosiveness in the linebacking core to create something special next season.

Griffin has been proving his doubters wrong his entire football life and that should continue into the NFL. He has everything it takes to succeed in the league. Now, he just has to prove he can do it.
