Joshua Jackson, CB, Iowa

One possible scenario that I have proposed a few times here at LA Sports Hub is the idea of trading cornerback Jason Verrett to either move up in the draft or to acquire another first-round pick. With the writing on the wall, the Chargers may be able to package Verrett, the second-round pick and a sixth-round pick to move up to the late first, early second.

More from LA Sports Hub

Both the Vikings at 30 and the Cleveland Browns with the first pick of the second-round are a possibility. There, the Chargers will still have several defensive tackle options to choose from. Quite frankly, none of which may be worth a 17th overall pick.

Thus, the Chargers could be looking to use that pick on someone that actually is worth it. By trading Verrett, they could go out and select cornerback Joshua Jackson out of Iowa.

This may seem counterproductive, but the Chargers have proven that they are just fine without Verrett. With multiple injuries, it may be time to make the most out of his potential and try to trade him away.

Bring in Jackson, who has good size for the cornerback position and enough speed to be a reliable second cornerback alongside Casey Hayward. Jackson is more talented than Verrett was coming out of college and could instantly have a huge impact in the NFL.

Jackson is an intriguing pick for the Chargers, however, the team would need to acquire another pick to make it happen. While Jackson will probably be the best available by the time LA is on the clock, they also have a great need for a defensive tackle. This situation is a win-win.
