The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding a five-game losing streak and look like the worst team in baseball. Who will get a hit though on Wednesday night?

In the words of Booker-T: “Five-time, five-time, five-time, five-time, five-time!” The Los Angeles Dodgers are losers of five straight, all of which coming against the two worst teams in the National League in the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins.

At this rate, the Dodgers are making a bid to be the worst team in the NL, joining the two teams mentioned and the San Diego Padres. What makes matters worse is that the Dodgers are 2-8 in their last team games. Eight of those games (and only one win) came against the three worst teams in the National League.

This is not a case of the Dodgers struggling against good teams, nope. This is a case of the Dodgers making bad teams looks great. Twenty percent of the Marlins’ wins this season have come against the Dodgers and 29 percent of the Reds’ wins this season have come against the Dodgers.

The team is not hitting period. LA must be facing great pitching, right? Well, wrong. The Dodgers are 2-11 against pitchers with an ERA greater than five. Heck, pitchers should make their rehab starts in Los Angeles, not in the minor leagues.

Thus, it has been hard to make our Dodgers Beat the Streak predictions. At least yesterday was a decent day.

Tuesday’s picks:

More from LA Sports Hub

Yesterday, I went with the returning Justin Turner to get a base knock and he did. Turner did go 1-4 in the contest but could not come up when it mattered most. Turner left three runners on base. In the biggest at-bat of the game with runners on second and third, two outs and down by two, Turner lined out to third base. Hard hit but nothing to show for it.

Sarah also was successful on the day as she went with starting catcher, Austin Barnes. Barnes just had two at-bats on the game but was able to deliver with a single in the fourth. Sarah’s streak now matches the maximum amount of runs the Dodgers are scoring. Three.

Sarah’s pick: — Current streak: 3 — Justin Turner

My pick for tonight is Justin Turner. I think, at this point, Turner is the Dodgers’ best chance at getting the offense going again. Even though he didn’t play the best baseball yesterday, he made hard contact in his first AB of the season.

It may sound a bit naive, but I think that Turner getting hot will spark the entire offense. We saw it last season with Bellinger, and we are bound to see it again. I think that all the Dodgers need are a few, strong offensive outbursts (not necessarily consecutively) and a few strong pitching performances. One of which could come tonight with Walker Buehler on the mound.

Jason’s pick: — Current streak: 1 — Justin Turner

Yes, I am totally copying Sarah but I promise that I had already planned on going with Justin Turner. This has nothing to do with her streak being longer than mine.

I wanted to go with Justin Turner on back-to-back games simply because he did not come up with that big hit yesterday. Even if he went hitless I would have selected Turner.

However, in his return, Turner is due for a big hit in this first series, I just have this big feeling. If that does not happen today then I bet it will happen tomorrow. If it does not happen tomorrow, well, I just give up.

Next: Time to wave the white flag on the Dodgers

Today will be the day that Justin Turner returns and has an impact and hopefully prevents the Dodgers from losing six in a row.
