Los Angeles Lakers: Why a Karl-Anthony Towns trade should happen
By Jason Reed
2. Karl-Anthony Towns is exactly the player the Lakers need to add
Most of the conversations around the Los Angeles Lakers have been connected to star forwards or shooting guards. Paul George, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler and Klay Thompson have all been rumored targets for the Lakers at one point.

As great as all of those players are, the Los Angeles Lakers already have a young upcoming forward in Brandon Ingram to worry about. Signing two forwards, let’s say LeBron and George, would create a situation in which the Lakers would have to run a small lineup with LeBron at the four and Julius Randle at center.
And while running a small lineup is okay in today’s NBA, size down low could be the difference maker for the Lakers if the team wants to legitimately dethrone the Golden State Warriors as the team to beat in the Western Conference.
Thus, obvious connections can be made between Towns and the Los Angeles Lakers; he checks all of the boxes. He is a star, he has size, he is relatively cheap and now he even has (though minimal) playoff experience.
Towns is the perfect blend of an old school, dominating center as well as a center that can stretch the court. Towns can definitely post up and bully anyone down low as well as clean up the glass for LeBron (or George) and company. Not only that, Towns shot 42.1 percent from three last season on 3.5 attempts per game.
