Double-A: OF Zach Reks (MLB Pipeline team rank: NR)

  • Weekly stats: .391, 6 RBI, 5 R

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Zach Reks out of the University of Kentucky in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. Since being drafted, Reks has been tearing up the minor leagues and has established himself as one of the best young bats in the minor leagues.

Although he is not ranked by MLB Pipeline yet, his production will definitely warrant some appreciation come the midseason update. The tenth-round pick has made the most of his opportunity and has already blazed his way to double-A in such a short amount of time.

Reks split time between Rookie ball, Low-A and Advanced-A last season, spending the most time on the Quakes (26 games). In 47 combined games between the three levels, Reks hit .317 with two home runs and 12 RBIs.

This season, Reks quickly advanced from the Quakes up to Double-A Tulsa. After hitting .404 with two home runs in 10 games with the Quakes, Reks was promoted to double-A, where he still has not slowed down.

In 10 games with the Drillers Reks is hitting .414 with seven RBIs, six walks and eight runs scored. Reks has shown a great patience at the plate and a sweet left-handed stroke that will naturally find gaps.
