Dodgers Trade for Manny Machado: Winners and Losers
By Jamaal Artis
Losers:
Baltimore Orioles’ Fans
Manny Machado was not only the face of the Orioles franchise but he was part of the revitalization of a team that went 15 years without a playoff appearance. In Machado’s time with the Oriole,s the team went to the playoffs three times while Machado represented the team in four All-Star games.

With Machado gone this may be the beginning of another rebuilding period for the team, especially with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox ascending to the top of the division.
Corey Seager at shortstop
With elbow problems last year and Tommy John surgery this year it would be really tough to see how Seager can return to the shortstop position with Machado there.
Seager is a professional and would most likely make the move to second base if asked, his versatility is one of the strengths of this team. Although this is all contingent on the Dodgers re-signing Machado in the winter.
The National League West
Remember when the Dodgers were closer to the San Diego Padres in last place than they were the Arizona Diamondbacks in first place? The rest of the division’s fans were all ready to bury the Dodgers.
My, how things have changed. The Dodgers are back in first place and they just added the best hitter in the trade market. If you are a fan of the other four teams in the division this has not been a fun afternoon for you.
