3. Tyler Skaggs

Of the realistic trade chips as the deadline approaches, Tyler Skaggs easily has the most value and trading him would signal that the Angels are undoubtedly waving the white flag on making the postseason this season.

Chances are, the Angels do not make this deal unless the team does plan on undergoing a complete roster overhaul or has plans to bring in pitching help this winter. The Angels do not have much pitching depth locked down long-term with Skaggs being one of the few options.

More from LA Sports Hub

Skaggs, a young promising southpaw, is under team control for two more seasons and has shown flashes of brilliance. The southpaw has a 2.62 ERA across 110 innings pitched this season with 115 strikeouts.

A contender in need of one more starting pitching would benefit greatly from Skaggs. The Yankees were rumored to be in the mix at one point, however, New York has already added pitching, so that deal may be off the table.

Other contenders such as the Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies could all use a southpaw of Skaggs’ caliber in the rotation.

For the Angels, the team would undoubtedly receive a top-100 prospect as well as a choosing of two or three other solid prospects.

dark. Next. How much would a Mike Trout trade be worth?

It would suck to see Skaggs go, but if the Los Angeles Angels are really turning into sellers this summer, he becomes the biggest name to watch as the deadline approaches.
