The Los Angeles Rams’ explosive offense is carried by quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley — two of the best at their respective positions.

The Los Angeles Rams had the most explosive offense in the NFL last season and look to build upon that with an even better offense this season.

While most of the roster has remained the same, the Rams have added a notable name at wide receiver in Brandin Cooks. Cooks was acquired from the New England Patriots and is undoubtedly an upgrade from Sammy Watkins, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cooks joins a pretty steller receiving crops alongside a good offensive line and an elite running back in Todd Gurley. Running the offense if former first overall pick, third-year quarterback Jared Goff. Goff put all the doubts to rest last season with a fantastic sophomore year.

Goff and Gurley are undoubtedly the heart of the offense and are the faces of the franchise moving forward for good reason.

Both excel at their respective positions and are two of the best in the game. While Goff may have not yet reached elite status like Gurley, he showed every sign of making that leap sooner rather than later last season.

Goff and Gurley are so young, Gurley entering his fourth season and Goff entering his third. However, they are already one of the quarterbacks and running back combo in the league. Here is how they stack up against the best of the best.

5. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott — Dallas Cowboys

Granted, Dak Prescott has received some tough love recently due to his struggles without Ezekiel Elliott last season. Many are wondering if Elliott really is the breakout quarterback he was in his rookie season that replaced Tony Romo or if he is someone that benefitted from a great run game.

Regardless, Elliott proved in his rookie season that he is one of the best running backs in the game. When he is on the field, that obviously elevates Prescott and makes the duo together one of the best in the NFL.

4. Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon — Los Angeles Chargers

Here are two guys that are often forgotten about and pretty underrated. Philip Rivers will go down as a top-10 quarterback all-time statistically and is an easy selection for the Hall of Fame. Gordon is one of the most productive running backs in football.

Rivers finished with the second-most passing yards last season and Gordon finished with the seventh-most rushing yards. A natural progression from Ingram should put them both in the top-five in their respective yardage.

3. Jared Goff and Todd Gurley — Los Angeles Rams

Jared Goff and Todd Gurley come in as the third-best combo heading into next season. However, they can easily move up to the second or even the first spot if both continue to thrive next season.

Goff definitely was a gunslinger last season and was not afraid to make big plays happen deep. Gurley was a huge part of both the running and passing games and was the only player with over 2000 yards from scrimmage last season.

2. Drew Brees, Mark Ingram II and Alvin Kamara — New Orleans Saints

This one does not seem fair as the New Orleans Saints get two running backs to get production from. However, at the end of the day. Drew Brees, Mark Ingram II and Alvin Kamara are all Pro Bowl-caliber players that led the Saints to so much success last season.

Brees is obviously one of the best to ever do it and will go down as a top-five quarterback all-time. Ingram really came into his own last season and Kamara was the Rookie of the Year. It was a coin toss between the Saints and the next team for number one.

1. Ben Roethlisberger and Le’Veon Bell — Pittsburgh Steelers

Realistically, both the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints can pass the Pittsburgh Steelers for the top spot on this list by season’s end. Ben Roethlisberger is entering the last chapter of his career and could see regressions and Le’Veon Bell may not even be a Steeler next season due to contract disputes.

However, as it currently stands, Roethlisberger is still a top-five quarterback, at least statistically, and Bell is still the best running back in the game.

Todd Gurley is definitely on his way to take those honors and Jared Goff may be better than Big Ben by next year. However, right now, the Steelers’ duo is the best in the league while the Los Angeles Rams are the third-best.
