3. Joey Bosa will be the Defensive Player of the Year

Fellow Los Angeles athlete Aaron Donald took home Defensive Player of the Year honors with Todd Gurley also taking in Offensive Player of the Year honors. While Donald certainly is menacing and is deserving of the award, Bosa somehow put up better numbers than the Rams tackle yet received no recognition for his efforts.

More from LA Sports Hub

Bosa bested Donald in sacks with 12.5 to 11. He had one fewer pass deflection and forced fumble and 29 more total tackles. Granted, being an end instead of a tackle leads to more opportunities, but the two put up very similar years, with Bosa’s also deserving of the award.

Bosa is only going to get better next season and is going to make it very hard for the voters to not give him the award that he could have won next season. He is the heart and soul of the defense and is going to continue to prove every game why he is the most terrorizing defensive player in the year.

Bosa is going to be huge in the team’s success and if the team was successful last season he probably would have been at least in the discussion for the award.

However, like a typical major sports award, Bosa was punished for his team missing out on the postseason despite it being an individual award.

Regardless, Bosa already has the talent and the numbers to win the Defensive Player of the Year. He just has to wait a year longer than he should have to take home that hardware.
