Los Angeles Lakers: Predicting the next four years with LeBron James
By Jason Reed
Year 4 (2021-2022):
- Record: 70-12, Win NBA Finals
- New additions: N/A
- Key losses: N/A
After all of this fun, the Los Angeles Lakers can stop making big-time moves and can instead ride this immensely talented group of players, only adding filler players in to provide depth and get to that 15-man roster.

At this time, Anthony Davis will likely surpass James as the best player in the NBA alongside Kevin Durant. However, knowing LeBron, he will still be extremely efficient and still be an All-NBA worthy player. Thompson will still be an all-star and Ball and Kuzma will also both be all-star caliber players.
If Kuzma and Ball progress as they should, this is a starting lineup consisting of five all-stars with five great players on the bench. This would be 2018’s version of the Golden State Warriors, who should have no problem in winning the title.
Even better, Thompson will still have another year under contract and Davis will have signed an extension after being traded to LA. Even if LeBron rides off into the sunset after ring number five and Thompson heads elsewhere, the Lakers would still have a big three of Davis, Ball and Kuzma to rely on to be successful.
And that is assuming that LeBron only has a four-year stint. If he can take a reduced role and this team can still be title worthy he may as well stick around two more years to surpass Michael Jordan in rings.
He’ll be over 40 at this point but if the Lakers bring in his son out of college to play with him there is no way he is leaving Los Angeles. By this time he probably will be reduced to a great sixth man to provide sparks but that is just fine.
The Lakers will get at least two rings out of the next four seasons and could be primed to be in the running until 2025. Buckle up, Laker fans, the next seven or so years are going to be fun.
