3. The Los Angeles Lakers need to get lucky with the other teams in the league

No title-winning team wins an NBA Title without some luck. Even the most dominant teams in NBA history needed at least some luck on their side in order to win it all. Having more talent means less reliance on that luck, but the luck is always there.

More from LA Sports Hub

Even last season, the Warriors got lucky that Chris Paul injured himself in the Western Conference Finals, which completely shifted the series and allowed the team to overcome a 3-2 deficit. Winning is so hard to do at this high of level that you have to take these spurts of luck when they arise.

The Los Angeles Lakers need that luck to be on their side this season. And while it is not winning the lottery levels of luck, the Lakers would need some key things to happen to open the door towards a title.

First, someone would have to get hurt on the Warriors. Whether it is Kevin Durant, Steph Curry or Klay Thompson, someone would need to miss time. And while we never root for injuries, that would help the Lakers chances.

The Lakers would also have to hope that they stay completely healthy into the playoffs. If LeBron goes down, the whole ship does down this season.

If someone goes down on the Warriors, the team then becomes beatable and the Lakers could sneak their way into the NBA Finals. Once there, all it takes is a few key possessions to shift the tide, the talent gap is not as extreme as it is with the Warriors.

Every team needs luck and the Lakers need a little bit more of it than other teams this season. However, the front office has still created a foundation that can take that luck and win a championship.
