Los Angeles Lakers: Three bold predictions for the season opener
By Jason Reed
2. Brandon Ingram scores 30+ points
We already went over what LeBron James is going to do in his first game with the Los Angeles Lakers. And while 23 points is certainly a respectable scoring game, he will not be the leading scorer in the box score when the final buzzer rings through the Moda Center.
It will be Brandon Ingram that leads the way for the Lakers in scoring in the first game of the season. Most of LeBron’s assists will come from Ingram, who will truly develop into an elite off-ball, catch and shoot scorer this season.
This is going to be indicative of what Ingram is going to accomplish this season. Ingram will have quite a few 30-point games in a season that sees him turn into one of the best small forwards in the league.
Ingram is bound to average somewhere from 20 to 23 points per game this season and will get that started on the right foot by dropping at least 30 points against the Trail Blazers.
If I had to guess Ingram’s line for the season opener I would say that he gets 34 points, five rebounds and two assists. In this performance, he will prove that the Lakers already have their second superstar on the roster.
