3. Sign Adam Ottavino

The first free agent signing of this article, the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to have to get some sort of external help in the bullpen this winter. There are a ton of options on the market as well as some potential trade chips the team can explore.

Either way, the front office should look to improve the bullpen in some way. While it does not need a complete overhaul, adding an impact arm or two will significantly improve the outlook of the bullpen.

My personal favorite target for the Dodgers this winter would be Kelvin Herrera. However, there are likely going to be teams that are willing to pay him closer money and I doubt the Dodgers would pay over $10 million for a reliever.

Instead, the team should target one of the best non-closer bullpen options on the market in Adam Ottavino. Ottavino was great despite playing half of his games in Coors Field last season. He finished tied for sixth in FanGraphs WAR for relievers last season and had the 11th-best K/9 (12.98).

Ottavino made $7 million last season. I could see him accepting just a slight pay raise for a longer contract; something in the ballpark of three years, $25.5 million.

New projected payroll: $164.9 million
