The Los Angeles Chargers got a huge bonus to Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos when it was announced that Joey Bosa would return to action.

The Los Angeles Chargers home matchup against the Denver Broncos just got a whole lot more interesting that it was 48 hours ago.

After practicing with the team for the first time in which seemed like forever, it was announced that defensive end Joey Bosa would most likely be making his 2018 debut in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos.

Bosa is still listed as questionable but is more than likely going to make his season debut against the Broncos. It has been a long time coming for Bosa and Charger fans, who expected the defensive end to compete for Defensive Player of the Year and be a huge cog in this defensive wheel.

Bosa’s initial injury was regarded as something that would not hold him out long-term, rather just something the team wanted to straighten out before the season began. However, it was then reported that Bosa would likely miss the first four weeks.

It was then reported that Bosa would be out until the bye. Now, three weeks after the bye, Bosa is expected to return to action.

While the Chargers defense has not been spectacular while he has been out, it has done more than enough to hold its end of the bargain for the team. Melvin Ingram has been absolutely phenomenal and the addition of rookie Derwin James is huge.

The Chargers have a league-average defense right now and that is set to change just with Bosa’s presence on the field. He is naturally a menace for opposing quarterbacks as he gets pressure to the pocket and rushes the passer to throw into a usually tight secondary.

If he is not the one doing the work, his impact on the left opens up the door for Ingram on the right. That has not been the case thus far and Ingram has not had the luxury of getting the matchup he desires. Offensive lines have been targeting him.

Having Bosa back will certainly help Ingram’s production as well. However, it will be Bosa that shakes the cobwebs off early and has a massive game.

I expect Bosa to pressure the quarterback all day long and even come up with two sacks in the contest; one of which is going to come at a pivotal point of the game early or late does not matter and is going to reinforce why he is one of the best defensive players in the league.
