Dodgers Rumors: Players that could be dealt for an Indians pitcher
By Jason Reed
5. Will Smith
Alongside the great starting rotation, the Los Angeles Dodgers are also reportedly interested in catcher Yan Gomes. Gomes has a club option after next season and the year after and would be a great option for the team to replace Yasmani Grandal without blocking Keibert Ruiz from making his big league debut when he is ready.

There is a good chance that if the Dodgers do make a deal with the Indians that the team would acquire both a starting pitcher and Gomes. If that is the case, it is just as inevitable for Will Smith to be dealt to the Indians as it is for Dustin May.
Smith is not a top-100 prospect but is the eighth-rated catching prospect on MLB Pipeline but is still the second-best catching prospect in the Dodgers organization. With Ruiz ahead of him, Smith is one of the most valuable trade chips for the Dodgers this offseason.
Heck, even if Gomes is not included the Indians should be interested in trading for a young catching prospect to help the outlook of the future. Smith will arguably be big league ready in 2019 and could even earn his way to being the everyday starter by the time September rolls around.
Of course, these five guys are not the only ones that could potentially be dealt to the Indians and there will undoubtedly be someone in the package that is not listed here.
However, if there is a trade, chances are we could see up to three of these guys traded to Cleveland. Depending on what arm the team trades for and who the team gives up, this could be a great trade for the Dodgers to make. We will see.
