Los Angeles Chargers look to rebound from last week’s surprising loss
By Hil Lopez
Last week, the Los Angeles Chargers suffered a letdown at the StubHub Center and lost 23-22 to the division rival Denver Broncos.
Last week was not a great week for the Los Angeles Chargers nor the team’s fans.
Even though Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw for over 400 yards and two touchdowns, he also tossed two uncharacteristic interceptions as well. Melvin Gordon went well over 100 total yards but did not reach the end zone for the first time since Week 1.
Denver quarterback Case Keenum threw for a pedestrian 205 yards but did not commit any costly turnovers like Rivers. He also led Denver to field goal range for kicker Brandon McManus, who nailed the game-winning field goal with no time left.

That was the story of the Los Angeles Chargers 23-22 loss to the Denver Broncos last week.
With the defeat in their rearview mirror, the Chargers turn to face the Arizona Cardinals. The Chargers are not as healthy as they seem as Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams and Melvin Gordon have missed practice time this week. Though Allen and Williams are expected to play, Gordon is a real question mark.
According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Gordon is questionable due to a lingering hamstring and knee soreness. If Gordon is unable to play this Sunday, the balk of his duties will fall to backup running back, Austin Ekeler.
Ekeler is more than capable of handling the load as he has been efficient with his touches this year behind Gordon. With Philip Rivers being as efficient as he has been this year, the Chargers should be in good position to handle Gordon’s possible absence this week.
On the other side, the Cardinals are trying to rebound from a disheartening loss to the Oakland Raiders, also on a last-second field goal. Even though it has been a tough season, the Cardinals still possess great talent on the offensive side with dual-threat running back David Johnson and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald.
Josh Rosen looks to exploit the Chargers’ pass defense this week but that will be tough with constant pressure from Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. Furthermore, Derwin James at safety and star cornerback Casey Hayward will look to lock down Fitzgerald and rising receiver, Christian Kirk.
With the game at the StubHub Center and the Chargers looking to re-exercise their place in AFC playoff picture before taking on Pittsburgh next week, I see them winning this game 27-20.
