3. The Los Angeles Chargers need to jump out to an early lead

The last thing the Los Angeles Chargers can afford to do against the Pittsburgh Steelers is fall behind early. If that is the case after a quarter of play, you might as well write the Chargers off in this one.

While a one-possession lead is not something to panic about, if the Chargers are losing by more than seven points and do not have the ball in their possession, it is very hard to see this Chargers team coming back.

More from LA Sports Hub

That is nearly what happened against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and the Chargers looked sluggish in all areas of the field. After a disappointing game against the Broncos, I expected the worst out of the Chargers.

Then the team snapped out of it and scored 45 unanswered points, helped by a missed field goal, to give the Cardinals a resounding beatdown that is very promising in the box score.

The Chargers will not have that same luxury against the Steelers and it is going to be very difficult to come back on the road against the Steelers.

First and foremost, the Steelers are a much more talented team than the Cardinals and have a quarterback and head coach that can sit on a lead and extend it. The team is filled with weapons and we all saw against the Carolina Panthers how quickly things can spiral out of hand.

Plus, if the Steelers jump out to an early lead that obviously means that the team is firing on all cylinders, which is a bad sign for the Chargers. It is not the end of the world to be down by seven but that is the most the Chargers can afford to be down by in the early frame.

If the Chargers drop down by 10 points I really do not like their chances of coming back. However, if LA is up by ten, it could be a signal that Big Ben is having another off night and the Chargers could silence the Steeler fans.
