3. Philip Rivers and the offense can go toe-to-toe with the Chiefs offense

The Los Angeles Chargers were not yet in an offensive groove at the start of the NFL season and those two special teams blunders really shifted the momentum of the game and kept the Chargers from every gaining serious momentum.

When the Chargers do gain momentum, they are one of the hardest teams in the NFL to stop. Just look at the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had no answer for the Chargers offense in the second half and ultimately blew a 16-point lead.

The Kansas City Chiefs do not have a great defense and it should be one that Philip Rivers is able to pick apart with the slew of playmakers that he has catching passes. Melvin Gordon should be back for this game and the emergence of Justin Jackson as a third back adds yet another weapon for Rivers and the Chargers to go to.

What makes the Chargers offense so effective is that they can do it with a quick downfield strike to Tyrell Williams or Travis Benjamin or can work a methodical drive with runs, screens, drag routes and out routes.

There is so much athleticism on the offensive side of the ball that the offense is undoubtedly going to give the Chiefs defense a headache. Mix that in with the fact that the Chargers have more playmakers on the defensive side of the ball and there is a bad recipe brewing for the Chiefs.

We saw in the classic Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams that the defense plays were the deciding factor during an offensive slugfest.

The Los Angeles Chargers offense will go toe-to-toe with the Chiefs offense. All it is going to take is a big stop or two by the defense and the Chargers can edge out a narrow victory.
