Los Angeles Dodgers: Three unexpected potential trade targets
By Jason Reed
3. Noah Syndergaard
This one would not be a complete surprise as there have been rumblings around Noah Syndergaard potentially getting traded from the New York Mets this winter.
With the team adding Wilson Ramos and making an “all or nothing” type of move for Robinson Cano, it does not appear that the front office is content with rebuilding. This is a team that seemingly wants to win and wants to do so now.

However, it does not mean that the front office won’t listen to trade offers and Syndergaard could be next on the Dodgers’ list of pitchers if the team strikes out on Corey Kluber.
For the New York Mets, this deal makes sense if the front office has any doubt in Syndergaard and his healthy moving forward and the natural fit with him in LA. For a pitcher like Syndergaard, the Dodgers would undoubtedly have to give up Alex Verdugo and Dustin May.
Verdugo, the team’s top prospect, is already big league ready and would be ready to have an impact on Opening Day. May is the Dodgers’ top pitching prospect and won’t be in the league for another two or three years.
The deal would probably need to also include another pitching prospect, such as Yadier Alvarez, as well as a low tier prospect outside the top-30 that had a good year production-wise in 2018.
Add in Rich Hill as a big league arm to replace Syndergaard and it would easily be enough to convince the Mets. Trading Hill likely wouldn’t go over well with the fans but he is on an expiring deal (which won’t hurt New York monetarily) and would save the Dodgers a lot of money this season.
Will it happen? Probably not. It would take the Dodgers sending a hefty package and the Mets’ having any form of doubt. However, that is why it is an unexpected trade, after all.
