Los Angeles Dodgers: Players worth trading Alex Verdugo for
By Jason Reed
3. Tommy Pham
If the Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to move Verdugo just to help the team’s case against left-handed pitching then Tommy Pham would be a good pickup.
None of the other teams listed as being potentially interested in Verdugo are seen in this list because it is hard to pinpoint a player that would be realistic to trade that would be worth Verdugo. Of course, we can say Jacob deGrom is worth Verdugo but that is never going to happen.

Someone like Pham would be a nice addition to the Dodgers lineup as a right-handed presence that could bat fifth behind Cody Bellinger and ahead of Max Muncy, making it harder for opposing managers to make bullpen moves late in games.
Pham was great against left-handed pitching last year with a .293 average and .877 OPS. Pham really excelled after he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, who could look to flip Pham and his value for a longer investment in Verdugo.
Acquiring someone like Pham instead of Nicholas Castellanos from the Detroit Tigers makes sense because Pham is under arbitration for three more seasons; Castellanos just one. While we are not ruling out the idea of trading for Castellanos, one season of him would not be worth Verdugo.
A straight one-for-one swap of the two players might seem unfair on the surface but the Dodgers could be getting all-star production from Pham in LA that would undoubtedly help the team’s World Series case.
While it would be disappointing if that is the only move the Dodgers make, Tommy Pham certainly would be a nice pickup and is someone that helps the dynamic of this lineup.
