Los Angeles Dodgers: Bold predictions for Clayton Kershaw in 2019
By Jason Reed
3. Clayton Kershaw has a sub-2.00 ERA and wins the NL Cy Young
Call me an optimist but there is no reason that Clayton Kershaw cannot win the National League Cy Young in 2019. I get that it will be five years since his last award but Kershaw is far from over the hill and is going to enjoy his first fully healthy season (hopefully) since 2015.

Even though Kershaw has fallen off a tad in the last three years he still has put up great numbers. His ERA is still always in the twos and he has a collective 2.26 ERA in that time. Heck, in 2017, Kershaw finished second in National League Cy Young voting and probably would have won if he didn’t miss time.
With a velocity close to back where it used to be and Kershaw’s career-best precision we are going to see a year of out Kershaw similar to five years ago. He is going to go back to producing numbers that no other pitcher in the game can replicate and is going to throw under a 2.00 ERA.
He has done that three times in his career, showing that he is more than capable. He will finally get close to the 200 innings pitched mark (if not over), which is so important in Cy Young voting. Most of all, he is going to prove to everyone that he is still the ace of the team, not Walker Buehler.
We actually predict that Buehler is going to be a Cy Young finalist alongside Kershaw, similar to Kershaw and Zack Greinke in 2015. There are a lot of great pitchers in the National League but these two are going to feed off of each other so well that it is going to only make each other better.
The young flame thrower and the veteran pitcher that wants to prove he still has plenty of gas left in the tank. It is a narrative that writes itself and is one that is going to lead to a lot of pitching success for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019.
