Lakers Rumors: Sleeper teams that could compete for Anthony Davis

3. Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers don’t have the big-name established star that both the Trailblazers and Pistons have to offer the Pelicans. However, if the Pelicans want to get the most bang for their buck and the best mixture of established and young talent, the Clippers might be the team to do business with.

If the Los Angeles Clippers were to trade for Davis it would take most of the team and would leave the roster pretty depleted after this season.
Tobias Harris would undoubtedly have to be a deal and would be a nice target for the Pelicans. Harris is showing all-star potential and the Pelicans can look to lock him down for the next three or four years after his contract expires in 2019.
Danilo Gallinari is another guy that is excelling this season and could be a nice role player for the Pelicans. However, because of financial reasons, the Pelicans likely wouldn’t want to completely tie themselves up due to Danilo Gallinari.
It would undoubtedly have to take both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson to get the deal done as well.
If the Pelicans know for a fact that they can extend Harris then a package of Harris and the two rookies, along with two more unprotected draft picks, seems fair for the New Orleans Pelicans. Perhaps the team could even ask for Montrezl Harrell, which is a fair request.
This would essentially be the Clippers going all-in on Davis wanting to stay in Los Angeles despite not being in the purple and gold. The Clippers do have space to bring in another max star in the summer and Davis could be the final piece to intrigue someone like Kawhi Leonard to come.
Signing Leonard could even be enough to convince Davis to stay as well. While the team would have to figure out who is starting at the point and in the frontcourt alongside Davis and Leonard, a big three of Davis, Leonard and Lou Williams is good enough to contend for the NBA Championship.
