3. Defensive tackle

The Los Angeles Chargers have such a good pass-rush, headlined by Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram on the ends, that it seems silly that the team needs to add pieces at defensive tackle. However, the team is potentially losing a lot at defensive tackle this offseason and are will be forced to make additions.

More from LA Sports Hub

Brandon Mebane, Damian Square, Darius Philon and Isaac Rochell are all unrestricted free agents this offseason. Hopefully, the team is able to bring back one, if not two, of these guys, but if not, defensive tackle becomes a huge need.

We still are not even sure if Mebane will continue to play after the unfortunate death of his seven-week-old daughter during the season. That is a decision that we as fans have absolutely no say in and should support either way.

If the Chargers do not bring back any of the free agents the team will be left with Corey Liuget and Justin Jones as the two defensive tackle options. Liuget played in only six games last season and was not spectacular and was decent but served as more of a run-stuffer.

If there is a great run-stuffing defensive tackle still on the board when the Chargers select then the team should undoubtedly go that way and use the second and third rounds for a linebacker and guard.

Next. Way too early first-round targets. dark

Keeping the defensive line well-rounded between rushing the passer and stopping the run is crucial for the Los Angeles Chargers success. That is why bringing in a defensive tackle is so important this offseason.
