Los Angeles Dodgers: Mind-boggling facts about the 2019 Dodgers
By Jason Reed
5. Dave Roberts can become the first manager ever to make the playoffs in four consecutive years to start his career
Dave Roberts had virtually no manager experience when the Los Angeles Dodgers hired him to be the manager prior to the 2016 season. Prior to the hire, Roberts had just one game of managing experience under his belt with the San Diego Padres. Aside from that, Roberts just had experience as a first base coach and bench coach.

So if we are being technical Dave Roberts’ managing career did not technically start with the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, just one game is not enough to call yourself a true manager and accepting that as his first manager job completely discredits this mind-boggling fact.
Despite all of his naysayers and all of the fans that wanted him out of LA, Dave Roberts has the opportunity to do something that no manager has ever done in baseball history.
Make the postseason four years in a row to start his career. Not a single manager has done this and Roberts most likely will be the first.
Making the postseason four years in a row is already a big feat for a baseball team. We already told you that the Dodgers have the third-longest postseason streak ever with six straight appearances.
There have been 16 instances in baseball history where a team has made the postseason four years in a row. There has not been a single four-year stretch that included a rookie manager.
You can definitely make the case that Roberts took over a great joba and didn’t have to do much to make the playoffs. However, the Dodgers did set the record for players on the DL in 2016 and Roberts guided them through that and the team fought tooth and nail in 2018 to make it six in a row.
It is impossible to ignore the impact that Dave Roberts has on the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is time for the fans to stop nitpicking his entire job because he makes few mistakes, like any manager in baseball.
