Dre’Mont Jones

If the Los Angeles Rams are going to go the route of the 2019 NFL Draft when finding a replacement for Ndamukong Suh then there is no better option than Dre’Mont Jones.

Quite frankly, it is hard to see the Rams going this route with a gaping hole at linebacker and no pick in the second round. While the team could use a third-round pick on a linebacker, the first round will likely be used for that.

The team might find a decent defensive tackle but will not find one that can replace Suh on the defensive line.

De’Mont Jones can and is a realistic target for the Los Angeles Rams with the 31st overall pick. Jones ranks 31st (isn’t that ironic) on NBC Sports’ latest big board and is a little bit higher on Matt Miller‘s (of Bleacher Report) big board, coming in at 19th.

There is still a lot of time to go until the draft and while Jones might be a top-20 talent, it is hard to see him going in the top-20 because of team needs in the first round.

Jones is an elite pass-rushing coming out of college and immediately would have an impact alongside Aaron Donald. In fact, the Rams would be the best place for Jones to go to showcase his skills.

However, he does struggle against the run and that might prevent him from being an every down guy for the Rams. However, the Rams specialize in getting to the quarterback and having Donald and Michael Brockers aside him will make it easier for Jones to focus on specific gaps.

If there is any team that can mask Jones’ deficiencies it is the Los Angeles Rams. His good traits far outweigh the bad and he fits Wade Phillips’ defense like a glove.
