Los Angeles Rams: Safeties to target in the 2019 NFL Draft
By Jason Reed
3. Mike Bell, Fresno State
If the Los Angeles Rams wanted to wait until the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft to select a safety then the obvious name to circle is none other than Mike Bell from Fresno State.

Bell is the tallest safety in the draft class, coming in at six-foot-three and around 200 pounds. That size is obviously a big factor as it is going to make him a much better vertical option against the bigger tight ends in the league.
Bell proved in college that he can man up tight ends, slot receivers and running backs. He not only has the size to man up the larger tight ends but is athletic as well. He might not be a great option against the faster slot receivers in the league but he can hold his own against most that the league has to offer.
Bell has shown great signs in nearly everything that NFL teams look for in a safety. Not only can he play man coverage but has proven that he can drop deep into coverage, play the ball and is a hard hitter.
His is even a good gap-plugger in the run game. He might not have a massive impact but he can bounce to the outside and stop three-yard runs from turning into six-yard runs.
The only thing about Bell is he is a bit raw. There is some refining to do at the NFL level but he has all the tools and natural skills to progress into a starter in the NFL.
This might be the best route for the Los Angeles Rams to take as well as the team would benefit more from selecting a linebacker in the first round of the draft.
