3. Draft option: Mack Wilson

Mack Wilson might not seem like a player that is even going to be available when the Los Angeles Rams are on the clock with the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Wilson had a great career with the Alabama Crimson Tide and has everything it takes to be an every down backer in the NFL.

However, Wilson is coming into a draft class that is pretty stacked at linebacker and could force him as far as the late first and early second round. In fact, CBS Sports ranked Wilson as the third-best linebacker in the draft and the 46th-best prospect overall, right in the Rams’ wheelhouse.

Devin White and Devin Bush are both so sensational and are going to go early in the draft and outside linebacker Josh Allen is probably going to go in the top-five. There are plenty of edge rushers in this year’s draft as well, leading all signs to point that Wilson falls lower than he should be selected.

In a thin defensive year, Wilson might have been a top 20, even a top 15 pick. Instead, there is a legitimate chance that he does not get picked in the first round.

Wilson recorded 65 tackles last season for Alabama, four and a half of which were for a loss and also picked off two passes. His athleticism and knack for getting to the football will make him a great run plugger as well as pursuit tackler in the NFL.

He also has the size and speed to be a decent coverage option in the middle and will only get better with experience. Wilson might be an upgrade from Barron by day one and would be a significantly cheaper cap hit.
