Los Angeles Rams: Players worth trading up for in the 2019 NFL Draft
By Jason Reed
3. Clelin Ferrell, Edge
Another player that the Los Angeles Rams might have to replace this offseason is Dante Fowler, who the team added via trade during the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fowler was a decent fit on the Rams, coming in as the outside linebacker on the edge in the Rams’ 3-4 defense.

The Rams should be looking to add a player that can play the same kind of role as Fowler did last season on the edge as the outside linebacker. The best part is that the Rams will probably get better production out of an early to mid-round pick than Fowler.
If that is really the Rams’ intention then moving up for Clelin Ferrell could be a smart move. The team can designate a selection, say the 20th overall pick and if he is still available then they should move up and get him.
Most projections seem to place Ferrell in the mid-to-late teens.
Ferrell is literally the exact same size as Fowler, coming in at six-foot-three and 265 pounds. Fowler, on the other hand, is six-foot-three and 267 pounds. Exact same size.
Ferrell is not a guy that excels at one thing and really fits more in a 4-3 scheme. He has proven though that he can be equally as productive against the run as against the pass and that is going to be huge for the Rams, who likely will look to use Ferrell as an every down guy.
He is going to have his best production in Los Angeles knowing that Aaron Donald is terrorizing the interior of the line, which naturally just opens more lanes for Ferrell to get to the quarterback.
Ferrell might not have the insane upside as some of these prospects but he is about surefire as you could get, which might be exactly what the Los Angeles Rams need.
