Los Angeles Chargers: Signing Ndamukong Suh would be worth the price

The Los Angeles Chargers have already added a new free agent in Thomas Davis and could be after one of the biggest names available, Ndamukong Suh.

The Los Angeles Chargers are not ones to often go big on the biggest free agents of the offseason but will make a significant move if it is on the table and helps the team.

Last year that move was signing veteran center Mike Pouncey. While Pouncey is not the most significant addition, he did help a pretty poor line which, unfortunately, continued to be poor last season.

After the Davis signing, it is not absurd to think that the Chargers are done with external free agents. This is not a terrible thing with the way the team has been drafting the last four years, either.

However, there is one huge overarching name on the market in a position that the Chargers could use some help him. That name is Ndamukong Suh, who would be going from one elite defensive line to another.

The Los Angeles Chargers have five, yes five defensive tackles that are free agents this spring. Even if the team manages to bring back one of last year’s standouts, such as Isaac Rochell, the depth chart will be alarmingly thin.

And while the 2019 NFL Draft is a viable route, the team also needs to look to replace Jahleel Addae as well as potentially add a young receiver to cushion the loss of Tyrell Williams. Suddenly, adding a free agent defensive tackle looks like a smart move.

That points all signs towards Suh, who would be worth the rather large contract he would likely receive. Suh reportedly wants to stay on the West Coast and the Chargers have been deemed a possibility.

This would be worth it for the Chargers as it would practically complete the defense. Add a safety in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and the Chargers would not have a single weak spot on the defensive side of the ball.

Suh would be that big-bodied tackle that could rush the quarterback and prevent guys like Tom Brady, who was able to step up from outside pressure and torch the Chargers, from doing what they do best.

Not only that but it would also help bolster the team’s attack against the run. While the Chargers were better in stopping the run last season, they certainly could improve and Suh would be a massive improvement.

Plus, who wouldn’t want to see Suh, Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa all on the same defensive line? That is a line that is good in all areas and could even be called the best in the entire league.

Earl Thomas won't be a Charger. dark. Next

While I would not expect it to happen, because the Los Angeles Chargers rarely make these kinds of moves, it would be a move worth making if it did happen.
