Stolen bases: A.J. Pollock (20)

Leading the way in stolen bases for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019 is going to be the newest member of the team, A.J. Pollock. Although Pollock is the easy choice to lead the team in stolen bases, he is not going to come close to the league leaders but will be a breath of fresh air.

More from LA Sports Hub

Los Angeles was slightly below league average in stolen base attempts per game last season but were also slightly above average in stolen bases per game. So while the team ranked 17th in total stolen bases, they had the fifth-fewest amount of times that they were caught stealing.

The Dodgers pick and choose their spots and are efficient at stealing bases but don’t really have a bonafide base stealing specialist. While guys like Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger have speed, they really don’t steal unless the situation deems fit.

Pollock is not going to change that trend. He is not going to be someone that is a threat to steal every time he gets on base. However, he will be in a lot of positions in which stealing second base is the right move, which will lead to his team-leading 20 stolen bases.

The Dodgers are going to be smart with Pollock and the team is not going to run him to the ground every time he gets on base. However, do not be surprised if you see a lot of two-out steals of second by Pollock to try and set up an RBI chance.

Pollock might not have the most steals of his career in 2019 but he certainly will have the most efficient base-stealing year of his career.
