The Los Angeles Dodgers officially have the team’s first losing streak of the season after dropping two consecutive road games to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Los Angeles Dodgers only had two losses in the team’s first 10 played and you could legitimately make the case that if it was not for Joe Kelly than the team would have ended up going 10-0 in the first 10.

The Dodgers have now matched that total in games 11 and 12 with back-to-back losses against the St. Louis Cardinals. It is nothing to worry about, though, as this is something that naturally happens across a 162-game season.

Also, take into account that the team has had one off-day since Opening Day and it was a travel day. Los Angeles also had to take a red-eye flight from Colorado to St. Louis after Sunday night for a game on Monday; it has already been a grind.

The Dodgers were also shutout for the first time this season on Tuesday. This was vastly different from the offensive showcases that the Dodgers have been putting on as the Dodgers went just 2-11 with runners in scoring position.

We also lost our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak hitting streak as our selection, Joc Pederson, had another hitless night. Pederson’s last hit came on March 30 and he has now gone 21 straight at-bats and 28 straight plate appearances without a hit.

The fans were able to get on the board as you guys once again went with Cody Bellinger, who had yet another two-hit night. Let’s get into the picks for Wednesday, shall we?

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Alex Verdugo

We just talked about how Pederson has not gotten a hit in his last 21 at-bats and if that continues then the man that should replace him in left field is Alex Verdugo.

The Dodgers have been using Chris Taylor as the left fielder against right-handed pitching but he has not been all that great this season, either.

It has been different for Verdugo, who is enjoying a nice start to the year despite having a limited role. The young outfielder has seven hits in 21 at-bats with a 1.143 OPS. However, he is 0-5 in this series, so he is due for a base knock.

This is more than just a solid start for a replacement-level player. This is a solid start for one of the team’s top prospects that has arguably been big league ready for over a year. Verdugo has to keep shining in the spots he is given and after an 0-5 stretch, he will provide the fireworks tonight in St. Louis.

The fans’ pick (Current streak: 0): N/A

For the first time all year, the fans were unable to send a pick in on time. Nobody responded to our Facebook or Twitter post, but hey, it happens.
